Foothills of the Rockies
We came to Colorado for a family wedding> The Lodge was beyond our expectations> The Bristlecone room was lovely. The view from the lodge were breathtaking> The staff was always very helpful. Can't wait to come back
Really nice, concenient, comfortable stay
We stayed at the Lamppost Lodge for one night while in Westcliffe. The easy check in is wonderful and the room was clean and nice. Bed was very comfortable. Very close to town. Would highly recommend. Two things I would suggest to change would be a full size iron board (the table top is very hard to iron on) and real coffee in the morning, not instant. Those easily overlooked as the lodge is real nice.
Sunset Trails Ranch
My entire horse group just stayed here and we rented the entire lodge and it was really wonderful , spacious clean, cozy and the inn keepers are very sweet and accomadating we will be back next year ! barn was only 10 minutes away at A Painted View Ranch .
We recently stayed for one night. The hostess and her husband were very enjoyable to work with. They gave great information on places to eat. The accomodation's were absolutely spotless and very spacious. Not only was the room emaculate but the whole facility was spotless. Just seeing this let us know there was a lot of care taken into keeping up this location. We will definitely recommend this to our friends and will book again with them.
Great place, great view, can not go wrong
This is lovely place to stay. The room was clean, great hot shower, was a refrigerator that you can put cold stuff located in the main lodge area. The bed sleep great and we could open the windows at night for cool fresh night air. We stayed 2 nights. I would stay here again. Oh yeah, great tasting water. Has a pass code that worked well for us.
Spacious, clean and great location
Arrived late Friday evening to find a very well appointed spacious room. Pass code worked flawlessly so entry onto property was without incident. Didn't need the wheelchair accommodation but reserved it for suite size. Very clean facility and with only one other party renting for the evening it was super quiet. I highly recommend the facility and would make future plans to stay if available
Lovely and easy
The room was large and well appointed. Access was super smooth. The view from the front porch was spectacular! We were the only ones there, so no breakfast, but otherwise it was perfect.
We stayed one night. It was just as beautiful as in the picture. Everything about the Lamp Post Lodge was perfect. We will be back!
Had to write a review, as I normally do not do so. I am a very picky traveler with high standards. The Bristlecone Suite is the best room anywhere in the area. Spotlessly clean, very, very quiet and private. Quality of room and amenities are outstanding. Ability to use a private entrance on my own schedule was also an important convenience for my needs. I highly recommend this Lodge. I will be staying here again upon my next visit into the area, without a doubt. Hosts were very clear and communicative via email and phone to help make the details and stay very seamless as well. Thank you for running a great Lodge!
My review this morning is going to be a little different than the one you would expect to see here. Over this past weekend on July 10th, myself and 2 climbing partners were in the area attempting to climb Crestone Needle which in our opinion is a challenging mountain to climb. When we set out on this hike we had every intention of this being a day hike and we didn’t intend to stay in the area over night. As some of you may know or understand things happen in the mountains and we got into serious trouble up there. I was involved in a fatal climbing accident that required Custer County Search and Rescue to bring choppers to locate the other two members of my party and I. We had all been separated earlier in the day because I chose to not push for the summit up the final gully. Once my party began their accent to the summit that would be the last time we were all together. I tell you all this to give you some context into my being at the lamp post lodge in the first place. Search and Rescue lined up my hotel room and made the arrangements for me to stay here, and them doing so was nothing short of a blessing from God. This is a place that could not be more clean and tidy. As its been mentioned in previous reviews Dick and Barbara were beyond friendly to me and went out of there way at 10:30 pm on Sunday to ensure that I had enough to eat and drink at the end of my day. Their kindness and generosity was such that it took me aback in a big way. Given the previous circumstances that I outlined above, my phone was dead when I arrived at the lodge and I really needed to reach my parents and many other friends who had worried about me so they loaned me a charger for my phone. In the morning they had a wonderful breakfast laid out that included cereals, fruit, breads, and waffles made on a waffle iron right in front of you. When it was time for me to leave and make my way back home, I checked with Dick to make sure we had paid for the room and that we held up on our end of the arrangement. The night before, I did not have my wallet on me because it was locked in the vehicle at the trailhead. We had arranged for my parents to call with a credit card in the morning to fix this. I found this out after the fact but, Dick and Barbara did not allow my parents to pay for the room. They refused to accept payment given what I had gone through. They explained that they like to assist Search and Rescue operations and they will do this as their contribution to the efforts those teams make. If there has ever been a couple and a business that I will go out of my way to support, this is it. I feel helping to make their compassion, generosity, and kindness known is the least I can do to repay what they’ve done for me. I will never forget them and their effort to make my night easier. I will be forever grateful for how they took care of me that evening.
